Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto (1898-1976)

Alvar Aalto, in full Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto (1898-1976), was a Finnish architect designer and town planner. He is considered one of the great masters of modern architecture.

About his life

Aalto was born in Kourtane (1898). He entered the Helsinki Polytechnic in 1916, and became a protege of Armas Lindgren (who was partner of E. Saarinen and H. Gesellius during the formative period of Finnish National Romanticism). After graduation in 1921, he sought employment in Sweden.
