About the Style
The Louis-Philippe style was featured with an interest in comfort and economy. This style tried to satisfy those who were looking for comfort, giving them a feeling of being socially legitimated. It was less concerned with originality than it was with comfort and new methods of creation. We can also say that lines are massive.

These are the rooms in French houses of the time affected by this style:
Bedroom: the best-known signature piece from this style is the sleigh bed. The headboard is higher than the footboard, with curve lines of a sleigh. It is usually made of dark woods, and some contemporary beds are also available in blonde woods and even steel.

In the living room it was also possible to find several furnishings from this style:
- Armchair: it was featured with a straight shape. Some models also had a pierced purchase that allowed them to move them easily and often were carved with flowers or volutes decorations.

- Commode: it had a rectangular shape and few drawers. The top shelf was usually of marble. Dark woods were important to this style: mahogany, ebony, and walnut. Marble tops were usually gray, black, or white.
- The ornamental repertory was limited because of machine-assisted production techniques. Bronze appliques and marquetry were not used and were always inspired by previous styles: Louis XV style branches, for example.
