Who designed Gun Lamp Collection?

The Flos Bedside Gun Lamp was designed by Philippe Starck for Flos (2005), the leading Italian modern lighting brand. Inspired to do just that, Philippe Starck created the Guns Collection to make a powerful statement.

The gold of the weapons represents the collusion between money and war. The Table Gun symbolizes the East, the Bed Side Gun symbolizes Europe, and the Lounge Gun represents the West. The black shade signifies death, and the crosses on the inside are to remind us of those who have passed.

How is it made?

Designed by Philippe Starck, the GUNS collection is a set comprised of a bedside lamp, a lounge floor lamp, and table lamp; the bodies are in die cast aluminum, with an overmolded, golden polymer coating and the black shade realized with plasticized paper.

The gold of the weapons is meant to represent the inherent bond between money and war, with each piece standing for a different conflict: Table Gun symbolizes the Eas, Bed Side Gun is for Europe, Lounge Gun stands for the West. The black shade over the golden sheen is a grim omen of death, with
the crosses  on the inside as a reminder for the lives lost to violence.

As one of the best-known contemporary designers in the world, Philippe Starck has placed honesty and integrity at the core of his designs, producing quality products with longevity & durability, and this product is no exception.
