About OMA.

OMA was founded in 1975 by architects Rem Koolhaas and Elia Zenghelis, along with Madelon Vriesendorp and Zoe Zenghelis, and based in Rotterdam.
Nowadays there are eight partners who lead OMA — Rem Koolhaas, Ellen van Lun, Rainier de Graaf, Shohei Shigemats, Iyad Alsaka, Chris van Duijn, Jason Long, and also David Gianotten — managing partner architect. OMA’s offices are located in Rotterdam, New York, Hong Kong Beijing, Doha, Dubai and Brisbane.

The main goal for OMA is to offer the client innovative original non-standard concepts and ambitious but practical architectural solutions. The project is being developed under the leadership of a collaboration of specialists from various fields. When working on a project, OMA specialists begin by conducting research, collecting data and holding brainstorm sessions, presentations and workshops. They closely cooperate with the client, which becomes an active member of the design team during the discussion of the project’s concept. Thus, they first determine the main issues, and jointly develop solutions, and then create their architectural proposals.

About AMO.

AMO is the analytical center of the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). It often works in parallel with OMA’s customers. For example, the Prada personalization project: research into individualization, store technology and new fashion content creation opportunities helped create OMA architectural designs for the new Prada stores in New York and Los Angeles. In 2004, the AMO developed the EU flag version, which was used as logo during Austria’s EU presidency. The flag was a color barcode combining the flags of all EU member states.
