Contemporary Architecture Characteristics

Contemporary style architects understand the need for contact with nature, including building materials. Hence, the importance of bamboo floors and plants. Several parts of houses are made of composite materials with low-emission paints and carpeting. Additionally, homes in this style often include ample skylights and big windows to let in sunlight.

Santiago Calatrava Valls designed the Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín,” which follows the guidelines of 20th century, late-modern architecture. In addition, the main hall or Symphony, crowned by a dome, has a 1,616 seat amphitheater. Moreover, organ pipes go out from both sides of the pit, of which Albert Blancafort designed. Further, the auditorium is distinguished from classical designs because it surrounds the listener.

The building is known for its big “arc,” which is unique and distinctive within architecture history. Furthermore, it is the only arch sustained by only two points, while the tip appears to be suspended, working against gravity.

Interior Design

Contemporary spaces have modern patterns and pieces, mixed with other non-modern elements. Eclectic styles seem to incorporate doses of this design style with a mixed attitude that embraces the world of contemporary decor. A neutral, masculine color palette is employed in this style.
